Teatro alla Scala, the landmark of opera in the world

Abstract:
Enzo Beacco will held a brief excursus to illustrate facts and personalities who played a leading role in making it the most important theater all over the world. Following the origin of the Teatro alla Scala in 1778, the well-known compositors who experienced their great successes there, the masterpieces of Giuseppe Verdi, the performances of celebrities such as Arturo Toscanini, Maria Callas as well as Luciano Pavarotti, will be chronicled through a series of amazing images and stories. Attention will be drawn especially to the events ranging from the reconstruction caused by bombing in 1943 over the postwar period to nowadays.

Enzo Beacco biosketch:
Enzo Beacco, journalist, writer, manager, operates
since decades in several domains of classical music. Has been music
critic for leading Italian daily newspapers such as “Il
giorno”, “La repubblica”,
“L’indipendente”. Wrote articles and essays focused
on music for “Il sole 24 ore”, “Corriere della
sera”, weekly and monthly magazines, books. For RAI, the Italian
broadcasting network, organized television and radio programs. Edited
program notes for the major concert and opera institutions in Italy,
including La Scala in Milano, La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Comunale in
Bologna. Has been Artistic Director of the concert association
Società del Quartetto in Milano and Responsible for the
Communication of Orchestra Mozart (conducted by Claudio Abbado). While
continuing his traditional activities, he is currently working on a
comprehensive essay on how general history has been generated and
controlled by selected masterpieces of classical music. .
